Chris Gabriel

Baseball Instructor/Facilities Manager

 

Chris was a four year varsity player at Bishop Stang High School in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts (Eastern Athletic Conference). Chris was chosen for the Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star Teams his sophomore, junior and senior year of High School. During his senior year he was recognized as one of the top ten hitters in the state of Massachusetts by the Boston Globe and was chosen as the most valuable player.  Chris’s batting average during his sophomore year and junior year was over .400 and he finished his senior year hitting .551.

Chris attended Southern New Hampshire University (D-2) and finished his career with a .320 batting average.  While in college, Chris was invited to try out for the Cape Cod Baseball league. Chris was trained by former MLB players: Brian Doyle, Denny Doyle and Tom House, Nolan Ryan’s long time pitching coach and has incorporated many of their teachings into his own coaching techniques.  Chris is available for hitting, pitching and fielding instruction.  Chris can be reached at cgabriel@sacandaga-sports.com or (774)-271-0801. 

Carla was a 3 year varsity player (2001-2003) at Amsterdam High School. She helped the Lady Rams to 3 consecutive Big 10 league titles. Carla was a first team Big 10 selection and a Section 2 all-star her senior year. She was also selected to The Recorder All Area team that year as well. Carla attended Russell Sage College (D-III) where she studied athletic training. She was a 4 year member of the team (2003-2007). Carla was continually one of the top hitters and base stealers for the Gators. Her senior year she was awarded the Coaches Award. Throughout her high school years Carla played softball for some of the best travel teams in the area including the Mohawk Valley Storm and Capitaland Crush. She was coached by several area coaching experts including Don Francisco, Pete Radick, Tim Jeavons, and Donna Nevulis.

 

After college Carla began coaching area teams. She has been involved with the Amsterdam Girls Softball Association since 2007, coaching at the 10U level for 7 years. Carla has also coached at various age levels for the Amsterdam Alleycats Travel Softball team from the 10U division to 16U division. She has been a valuable member of the Amsterdam Lady Rams coaching staff since 2005. She is a volunteer assistant for the JV team.

 

Carla is currently employed by St. Mary’s Healthcare. She has been a fixture on local sidelines fixing injuries as the Athletic Trainer for Amsterdam, Broadalbin, Mayfield and Northville school districts. She is also the Head Athletic Trainer for the Amsterdam Mohawks baseball organization.

Sara Hisert:

 

Sara is a 2005 graduate of Amsterdam High School where she lettered in softball were she led the Rams to three consecutive Big-10 championships Sara was named Most Valuable Player of the Big-10 as a senior and was a two-time first team all-league selection. Sara was also named the all-Area Pitcher of the Year. She led the lady rams to their first ever sectional win in 23 years.

 

Hisert was a four year letter winner for Division II American International College, where she started 64 out of 83 career appearances in the circle.  In four seasons with the Yellow Jackets, she compiled 26 wins and struck out 261 batters while posting a 3.15 ERA and was named team captain her junior and senior year. Hisert had her best statistical season as a freshman, appearing in 23 games and tossing a career high 107 innings.  She struck out 103 batters with a 2.49 ERA ending the season posting a 7-1 mark in her finally 11 appearances.

 

She then went on to coach at Manhattanville college as a pitching coach, where she helped assist the Valiant pitching staff to back to back conference tournament finals, the first in the programs history.
